Professor Mike Chapman Professor Michael Chapman is one of Australia’s most highly profiled and respected fertility specialists. He is a busy clinician who has personally been involved in fertility care resulting in over 3000 pregnancies. His academic position enables him to be at the forefront of new advances in treatment which he applies in his practice at the earliest opportunity. He has a high public profile due to his tireless efforts to ensure access to Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) for all Australians, as a vocal patient advocate and senior medical academic training practitioners of the future. When Chair of the IVF Directors Group he was instrumental, working closely with the Federal Government, to ensure access to ART treatment remained clinically protected as a doctor-patient medical decision.

Today he is one of the country’s leading media commentators on reproductive health. Michael graduated from the University of Adelaide, after which he specialised in obstetrics and gynaecology. He then moved to the UK, developing extensive experience in infertility, hormonal disorders and assisted reproductive technology (ART). Michael became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He gained his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of London, where he was appointed Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Guy’s Hospital. After 15 years abroad, Michael returned to Australia as Professor in the School of Women’s and Children’s Health at the University of New South Wales, and St George Public Hospital, Kogarah – a role he continues today.

He is heavily involved in training and education at all levels and is an examiner for the Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, of which he is a Fellow. Michael’s depth of experience comes from extensive international roles having established and run IVF services in London, Naples, Jeddah and Sydney. He lectures regularly at national and international meetings, has over 130 scientific publications and many book chapters.

His particular interests are in IVF, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), recurrent miscarriage and menstrual problems. Michael currently holds the following posts, Clinical Director for Women’s and Children’s Health, St George Hospital Executive Director for the Royal Hospital for Women, Fertility Society of Australia President, Australian and New Zealand Society of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Vice Chairman, CREI Subspeciality Committee RANZCOG. Michael consults from IVF Australia’s Kogarah and Miranda clinics. He is currently a member of the Advisory Board of LFC.

An organization dedicated to advocacy, education and empowerment of women, youth and children especially the less privileged and disadvantaged. She has partnered with and consulted for UNICEF, European Union Prime, ALCO-World Bank project, NACA and several other State, National and International agencies on Reproductive health and Sexuality Education (Protection and Participation Rights). She pioneered and revitalized the anti HIV/AIDS clubs in the UNICEF child friendly schools in the South West Zone of Nigeria. She won the National youth award for Leadership, Efficiency, Accountability and Professionalism (LEAP/NOKIA INTERNATIONAL 2006 AWARD) and other notable awards.

Dr Ena Onikoyi MD

Dr Ena Onikoyi graduated from New York University (N.Y.U) with a Bachelors degree in Premedicine and Psychology. She went on to the University of Rome, where she graduated in 1988 with MD (medical doctor) having gone through Clinical course work in Medicine & Surgery with special focus on research with dissertation in blood lead intoxication of pre school children.

She moved into clinical research at Georgetown College, USA, Albert Einstein College of Medicine NYU USA, Cornell-Weill College of Medicine NYU USA, respectively in oncology and sickle cell research, with awards from National Institute of Health (NIH). She later rose to become an Instructor in Medicine (Assistant Professor).

She was in Obstetrics & gynaecology in various clinics both at government and private levels. She also has various publications and presentations to her credit. Dr Onikoyi is an American married to a Nigerian. Her clinical skills blossomed in Nigeria whilst working in the field of anesthesia. She has also worked in various centers in different countries across the globe. She brings this vast experience to bear in her role as our Clinical and Research Coordinator.
